Dennis
Anderson is Professor of Information Systems at Pace University's
Seidenberg School
of Computer Science and Information
Systems. He has served as Associate Dean (1999-2007) and Director of the
University's Center for Advanced Media (2000-2006). Since 2001, He has
also directed the Laboratory for Undergraduate Research and Collaborative
Computing.
Professor Anderson received his Ph.D. and M.Phil. in Mathematics Education from
Columbia
University. He also received an
Ed.M. in Instructional Technology and Media from Columbia University.
In addition, Professor Anderson holds an M.S. in Computer Science from New
York University's
Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences and his B.A. in Computer Science
form Fordham
University. He also completed an
executive-education program in E-Commerce at Columbia
University's School of Business
and a professional program in multimedia at the Massachusetts Institute of
Technology. In 2005, he completed Harvard University's
Institute for Management and Leadership in Education Program.
Professor Anderson has presented at numerous international conferences in the
areas of computer science, information systems, and distance and mathematics
education. His research interests include information and communication
technology, information policy, global digital divide, human-computer interaction,
multimedia, programming languages, artificial intelligence, new-media
technologies, e-commerce, and computer science, mathematics and distance
education. He has received numerous grants including a number of National
Science Foundation grants. He has served as a reviewer/referee for
numerous grants, fellowships, and publications.
Professor Anderson has been named to the roster of the J. William Fulbright
Foreign Scholarship Board's Fulbright Senior Specialist (2002-2006) program as
an expert in information technology. He was a Fulbright Senior Specialist
to Belgium
in 2002. Recently he was appointed as a reviewer for Fulbright Senior
Specialist Program. He has served as a member of several advisory boards
of organizations and conference boards including Microsoft Faculty Advisory
Board, ACM Computers in Entertainment Editorial Board, Editorial Review Board
of the Journal of Educational Multimedia and Hypermedia, CIO Executive Programs
CXO Media, Computerworld Strategic Programs, Society for Information Management
NYC, NYC Department of Education’s Academy of IT and CTE Advisory Council,
ISACA Education Board, Fulbright Academy of Science and Technology
International Advisory Council, PC EXPO/TECHXNY 2002 Conference, Columbia
University-Teachers College, MIS2002 Conference, Pace University Research
Council, AMCIS 2004 (Program Guide Chair), the International Conference on
E-Banking and Global Marketplace 2003 (Conference Chairman), and the UN
Conference on Age of Connectivity 2007 (Co-Chairman). He has served as a
judge for the New York City Science and Engineering Fair, Imagine Cup 2005, and
the Advanced Media Technology Emmy Awards and a reviewer for the New York State
Education Department's Institutional Accreditation. He has also belonged
to a number of professional organizations including the Association for
Computing Machinery, IEEE-Computer Society, Association for Information
Systems, New York Academy of Sciences, New York New Media Association, and
American Society for Engineering Education.
He
has been named Fellow of World Innovation Foundation, Visiting
Fellow (2004) at the Institute for Advanced Studies on Science, Technology and
Society, in Graz,
Austria, and Fellow of
Wilson Center for Social Entrepreneurship in 2006. In 2004 , he
was also a Visiting Professor at the Université de Mons-Hainaut, Waroque Business School, Belgium. Recently, he was a Scholar-in-Residence
at the UBS Wolfsberg Think Tank in Switzerland.
Professor
Anderson has also served as Project Leader on the following projects: NYC2012
Olympics Bidding Organization - Nations of New York Web Site Development
Project (2004), World Trade Center Memorial Foundation Web Site Development
Project (2004), Hispanic Education Summit (2005), and U.N. Language and
Communication Program Web Site Development Project (2006).
